Privacy Policy

Last updated: March 2025

1. Overview

Snippit is a minimal service for writing, running, and sharing JavaScript snippets. We do not require an account. This policy describes what data we collect and how we use it.

2. Data we collect and use

Snippet content. When you save a snippet, we store the title, code, and related metadata (e.g. creation time) so we can serve the snippet at its shareable URL and support features like version history and embeds.

Creator identifier. To let you manage “your” snippets without an account, we may store a creator ID in your browser (e.g. in local storage). This ID is linked to snippets you create so you can edit or list them. We do not use it to identify you personally unless you choose to associate it with other services.

Usage and technical data. We may collect server-side logs (e.g. IP address, request URLs, timestamps) and use analytics (e.g. page views) to operate and improve the Service. We do not sell your personal data.

3. How snippets are shared

Snippets are public by design: anyone with the link can view and run them. Do not put sensitive or personally identifiable information in your code. Embeds may be used on third-party sites; viewing a snippet on another site is still subject to this policy and our Terms.

4. Code execution

Your code runs in an isolated sandbox (e.g. in an iframe) on our or your domain. We do not use the execution environment to collect data from your code; we only store the code and serve it as described above.

5. Third parties

We may use third-party services for hosting, analytics, or performance. Those providers have their own privacy practices. We choose providers that we believe are consistent with minimal data use and security best practices.

6. Retention and your choices

We retain snippet data for as long as needed to provide the Service. You can stop using the Service at any time. Clearing your browser storage will remove the creator ID from that device; we may still retain snippets previously created under that ID. We do not offer a dedicated account or deletion API; for specific requests you may contact us.

7. Changes

We may update this privacy policy. The “Last updated” date at the top will reflect the latest version. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

8. Contact
